Dr. Michael Fortini
Dr. Michael Fortini is the director of Merrimon Family Chiropractic. He graduated from Life Chiropractic University in 1986. He then started a practice in NY, NY, on the Upper West Side from 1987-1990 at Museum West Medical Center.
Graduating from Life Chiropractic University in 1986, I always knew I would retire in the south. I also knew it would not be that far South. I moved back to New York and opened practice in Manhattan where I practiced for 6 years at Museum West Medical Center. I then opened a second office in Bayside Queens. Running both practices as the only Doctor forced me to close Manhatten and commit to 20 years in Queens New York.
I finally had the chance to move in 2006 when I sold my practice.
I moved from Long Island New York to Asheville in 2007. I fell in love with the mountains and the city the first night I spent here. I knew I had found my real home. I moved with my wife Donna and 2 children Juliana and Michael. Our Chiropractic office is now the #1 Office in Asheville with the greatest customer service and Team of 4 doctors open 5 and 1/2 days per week. The real secret to our success lies in the staff who are giving and caring above and beyond the call of duty.
Dr. Rob Resnick
Dr. Rob Resnick is a highly respected community figure in the Asheville area and a world renowned Applied Kinesiologist. He studied under the founder George Goodhart for many years before leaving to France in the early 1980′s to refine his technique.
In 1964, Dr. George Goodheart, a Detroit chiropractor, began making a series of revolutionary observations about muscle function, health and disease states that became applied kinesiology.
Dr. Goodheart passed away in the spring of 2009. His influence is very widespread; many practitioners in the alternative field use some form of muscle testing. Several thousand chiropractors regularly use applied kinesiology, benefiting hundreds of thousands of patients.
Here are some of the basic principles that Dr. Resnick first learned from Dr. Goodheart,
which are often overlooked:
Structure has a great influence on function. Goodheart has postulated that human functioning is a triangle of chemical, emotional, and structural factors. The emphasis in alternative medicine is usually on chemistry (nutrition, herbs, etc.) or emotions (mind-body therapies, etc.) but rarely on structure. Mechanical therapies such as chiropractic, massage, etc. are accepted for musculoskeletal complaints but not for more advanced disease states the way nutrition is.
In many chiropractic observations, applied kinesiology correction of bodily mechanics often has a dramatic effect on many disease processes, including chronic fatigue syndrome, lupus, irritable bowel syndrome, migraines, flu, recurrent respiratory infections, ulcerative colitis, sciatica, lumbar disc syndrome, TMJ syndrome, vertigo, post traumatic stress disorder, allergies, amennorhea, menorhagia, and  carpal tunnel syndrome.
With over 28 years of experience under his belt, Dr. Robert Resnick is the Chiropractor’s Chiropractor.
